Description

The easiest Slow Cooker Whole Chicken! Crock pot Rotisserie chicken is easier than you think and this crock pot whole chicken literally falls off the bone.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 whole chicken (46 lbs)
  • 2 onions
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper

Instructions

  1. Step: Peel and slice 2 onions into large, thick slices and place them in an even layer at the bottom of the crock pot.
  2. Step: Place 1 whole chicken (4โ€“6 lbs) in the crock pot on top of the onions, breast side up. Use a basting brush to rub 2 tablespoons olive oil all over the skin of the chicken.
  3. Step: In a small bowl, mix together ยฝ teaspoon paprika, 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning, ยผ teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon pepper.
  4. Step: Sprinkle the seasoning mixture evenly over the chicken and use the basting brush to spread the oil and seasonings across the surface of the chicken.
  5. Step: Cover and cook on low for 4โ€“6 hours or on high for 2โ€“3 hours.
  6. Step: Make sure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165ยฐF. Carefully remove the chicken from the crock pot.
  7. Step: Let the chicken rest for 5โ€“10 minutes, then slice and serve.

Notes

If you want to have crispy skin like you get with roasted chicken, place the chicken in a baking dish or cookie sheet and broil for 4-5 minutes. Just keep an eye on it so it doesnโ€™t burn!
