  • Vegetable Oil for Deep-Frying
  • 120ml (ยฝ cup) Honey
  • 30ml (2 Tbsp) Fresh Orange Juice
  • 5ml (1 tsp) Orange Zest
  • 2g (ยฝ tsp) Grated Fresh Ginger
  • 2g (ยฝ tsp) Ground Cardamom (optional)
  • 15g (ยผ cup) Toasted Sliced Almonds
  • Powdered Sugar โ€” for dusting

Instructions

  1. Combine Dry Ingredients: Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Prepare Wet Ingredients: Whisk buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla.
  3. Form the Dough: Combine wet and dry ingredients, stir until just combined, and rest for 30 minutes.
  4. Heat the Oil: Heat oil to 180ยฐC (350ยฐF).
  5. Roll and Cut Dough: Roll dough to 1cm thickness and cut into squares.
  6. Fry the Beignets: Fry in batches until golden brown.
  7. Make the Glaze: Simmer honey, orange juice, zest, and ginger.
  8. Glaze Beignets: Toss warm beignets in warm glaze.
