Description
These sliders are a delicious twist on the classic Sloppy Joe. They are bite-sized delights and pack all the flavor of the original sandwich!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound lean ground beef (ground turkey or ground chicken)
- 1/2 bell pepper, diced
- 1/2 yellow onion, diced
- 1/2 teaspoon Montreal steak seasoning
- 15 ounce can Manwich sloppy joe sauce
- 12 Hawaiian butter rolls
- 1 1/2 cups shredded Mozzarella cheese
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Instructions
- Step: Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and lightly spray the bottom of the casserole dish with non stick cooking spray.
- Step: Dice the onion and bell pepper into a half-inch dice.
- Step: In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with the diced bell peppers and onions, seasoned with the Montreal steak seasoning, until no longer pink and drain well.
- Step: Add the sloppy joe sauce and mix together to combine.
- Step: Using a large serrated knife, slice the rolls in half so you have a โslabโ of tops and a โslabโ of bottoms without separating the rolls.
- Step: Place the bottom half of the rolls in the bottom of the casserole dish, spoon the meat mixture over the top and spread evenly, sprinkle with shredded cheese, and add the top slab of rolls.
- Step: Melt one teaspoon of butter, brush the top of the sliders with butter, and finish by sprinkling with Italian seasoning.
- Step: Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes, removing the foil for the last 2-3 minutes so the tops of the rolls are golden brown.
Notes
Store leftover sandwiches in an airtight container in the fridge for up to four days. You can freeze the ground beef mixture in a freezer-safe bag for up to three months. For the best taste, reheat the sandwiches in the oven at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
