- 250g (9oz) Puff Pastry Sheet (2 sheets โ 1lb total)
- 150g (5.3oz) Sharp Cheddar Cheese, shredded
- 100g (3.5oz) Cream Cheese, softened
- 100g (3.5oz) Smoked Turkey Strips, chopped
- 1 Small Onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp (15ml) Olive Oil
- 1 tbsp (15g) Brown Sugar
- 1 tsp (5g) Smoked Paprika
- 2 tbsp (30g) Unsalted Butter, melted
- 2 tbsp (30g) Fresh Chives, chopped
- 1 Clove Garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp (15ml) Fresh Lemon Juice
- 2 tbsp (30g) Plain Greek Yogurt (for drizzle)
- 1 Large Egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prepare Oven & Sheet: Preheat oven to 200ยฐC (390ยฐF) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Caramelize Onions: Sautรฉ sliced onion in olive oil with salt for 12-15 minutes until golden and soft.
- Enhance Onion Flavor: Stir in brown sugar and smoked paprika during the last 2 minutes, then drizzle with melted butter.
- Make Savory Filling: Combine cheddar, turkey, and half of the caramelized onions; season with salt and pepper.
- Prepare Cream Cheese Swirl: Mix cream cheese, garlic, lemon juice, chives, and smoked paprika.
- Roll & Cut Pastry: Roll puff pastry to smooth creases and cut into 4×4 inch squares.
- Assemble Turnovers: Fill each square with cheddar-turkey mixture, cream cheese, and remaining onions.
- Fold & Seal: Fold diagonally into triangles, pressing edges to seal and crimp with a fork.
- Egg Wash & Bake: Brush with egg wash and bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool & Garnish: Cool for 5 minutes, drizzle with yogurt, and garnish with chives and onions.
Notes
For a tighter seal, lightly brush the edges of the pastry with water before folding. Using all-butter puff pastry yields the flakiest results.
